Table Clock by John Knibb à Axon, circa 1730

A table clock housed in an ebony case with gilded ornaments. The movement includes a striking mechanism and pull repeat with quarter-hour chimes. The backplate is intricately engraved. The clock is signed "John Knibb," the brother of renowned clockmaker Joseph Knibb. Beneath the signature plate is an additional signature, "Samuel Aldworth in the sand." Aldworth took over Knibb's workshop towards the end of his career and collaborated on several clocks.

The brass-gilded dial features an additional sub-dial at the top for setting the alarm.
