Miniature German Schwarzwald Sorg Clock, circa 1830

A Sorg clock featuring movement, striking mechanism, and alarm mechanism. The clock runs for a day. The wooden frame is typical of Schwarzwald clocks. This clock has a brass fret and an enamel dial, with iron hands indicating the time. Joseph Sorg was the first to create this type of miniature clock, and his name is associated with these clocks. Exceptionally, this clock includes an alarm mechanism and a striking mechanism that chimes the hours. The enamel dial measures only 6 cm in diameter, and the total height is just 9.5 cm. Copper weights drive the clock’s mechanisms. It is signed on the back of the movement
