Limburgian standing clock

Signed ‘J.C. Van Nierbeck à St-Trond’.

Jean Chretien Van Nierbeck was born in Saffelen, Germany. He married Jeanne Catharine Vanderlinden and moved to the Luikerstraat in Sint-Truiden to live and work there. He died there June 26, 1830.

This clock has a fine sculpted oak cabinet which is 245 cm high.

The clockwork, which runs one day, has a striking train with a double bell, which means it strikes the low-pitched bell every hour and every half hour the high-pitched bell.

At the top in the cambered brass dial with tin ornaments, there is a little plate on which he signed the clock. The iron hands are engraved.

The alarm clockwork is complete and works well.
