French Mantel Clock Liseuse by Ballife, circa 1810

A gilded brass mantel clock featuring a seated lady reading at a table (liseuse). The clock has a movement and striking mechanisms that chime the hours and half-hours on a delicate bell. It has a runtime of one week. The enamel dial has Roman numerals and blued Breguet hands.
